Schedule: 5 out of 7 days (Must be flexible to work alternate days including weekends on occasion to cover holidays, sickness, and business requirements)

Working within the Technical department and based in the Production High Care facility, the QC team ensures that each product passes through the safety checks and is made to a high standard that we and our customers can be proud of. A typical day for the QC will be predominantly in the High Care room where our products are made, conducting metal detection and label verification checks regularly and inspecting product on the line to ensure the ingredients and finished product quality is high. Sometime will be spent before or after the production shift assisting the Quality Assurance team with diligence checks such as temperature monitoring and auditing, and production paperwork collation and verification.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Operating the metal detector to ensure hourly tests are done on the packaged products.

  • Taking temperatures and weights of ingredients and products at intervals throughout the day.

  • Checking packaging and labels against the master reference guide to ensure each product goes In the correct packaging with the correct label applied.

  • Completing label verification paperwork at the end of the line.

  • Inspecting the product through the production stages on the line, ensuring the products are made to specification.

  • Verifying production paperwork from the previous shift and preparing paperwork for the next.

  • Investigating customer complaints.

  • Retrieving samples for microbiological testing and organoleptic sessions.

  • Participating in weekly taste tests on the products.

  • Communicating any issues or feedback to the Production Team Leaders and Shift Manager.

  • Reporting to the Quality Supervisor.

  • Helping to keep a clean and safe working environment in the production facility.

  • ​Encouraging a positive food safety and quality culture.

Skills and attributes

  • Observant and high attention to detail.

  • Ability to work unsupervised on own initiative, as well as working as part of a team.

  • Communicate confidently and professionally with colleagues.

  • Good time-keeping and able to keep on top of hourly tasks.

  • An enthusiasm for food safety and quality and promoting GMP throughout the site.

  • A willingness to learn and for personal development.

Qualifications and experience

DESIRable:

  • Experience in a food manufacturing facility.

  • Food safety qualifications.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Whilst experience in a similar role is preferred, all relevant training will be provided to suitable candidates.
